SSWC-book has gone to press

by Mattias Boström August 8, 2010

Last Friday began F4-Print to print-on-demand press SSWC-book . When I was in contact with them at ten o'clock in the morning, they had run out 36 copies of it. On Friday morning, delivered all the books so that I can load them directly into the trunk of twitter bus No. 2 to the SSWC.

SSWC-book 2010 is a quickly assembled with written texts of more than 180 people, most of whom participate in Sweden Social Web Camp on 13-15 August at Tjärö in Blekinge archipelago. The choice of subject was free - much of the book is of course social media, but there are also lots of other subjects represented. I went out with a general call for the project at SSWC blog July 5, anyone who wanted to got to and it was like to be already nätpublicerade texts.

The whole book project I take care of private, and Piratförlaget is not involved in the actual release. This was originally only intended as a fun thing that took place in a few weeks of my vacation time, but it was actually an insanely interesting book. Publisher name of the book is bubble Books, but no such publishers are not really - it's just me as a little joke.

591 pages book was on and it is printed right now in a paperback edition of the paper will be on sale for a hundred bucks on camp. It is nearly on the crown exactly what it costs to print the book as a print-on-demand. In addition, each book useful enough to be accompanied by a sealed 3-liter Toppits-plastic bag (bought 21 packs of Ica in Bålsta other day - filled an entire shopping cart), so you can keep moisture away during the humid morning hours or in case of rain. I will stop even with a small bookmark where you can type its name (classic phrase "This book belongs to"), so that we can easily trace the owner of found books / plastic bags.

Sales of the book will initially be on early Friday evening, probably at Veidekketältet (with inclined cash using @ beta75 and @ malstegus and maybe more). And probably in the tent if it rains. All that dissolves. Keep an eye on my twitter feed at @ piratforlaget then the info there. I continue, of course, sell the book even on Saturday and Sunday. First, I printed up copies so that all participants have the opportunity to buy varsitt example, but the items left over, I sell over late Saturday and Sunday. If there are more who want more items and we'll make it through the mail after the SSWC.

Pressing the F4-Print is in collaboration with Uffe on Paper Talk, and he will also fix so that it easily possible to order the paper book online afterwards. I will try to ensure that it is as cheap as possible, but including the postage reasons I will not be able to keep the price down as low as the Tjärö. More information about the ordering process will in the next few weeks.

Sometime during the SSWC-weekend, I expect also to have gotten both the pdf version and the ebook in epub format on this site. And there are of course free to download. EBook is the @ Gardefjord to help me with - something I am enormously grateful for, not least because he is a pro at it.

The project with the SSWC-book has given me a wealth of new knowledge. And more importantly, new acquaintances. Had I not had the good self-confidence that I am good at putting together books, then I probably would not have given me in on this. But I do not regret it for a minute. This was really fun.
