If Laughter Stock - and news about my first stand-up show!

by Mattias Boström May 30, 2011

Last Saturday went tioårsjubilerande stand-up festival Laughter Stock held at Långholmen. Just a few hundred yards from the North Bridge and the Stockholm Marathon was going on simultaneously. Nine hours of humor. Luckily we were spared the rain, but a little chilly, it was off and on. The sun had by the way, a huge round of applause when it looked up at three o'clock.

As I mentioned earlier in the spring, finished second in the contest Bungee Comedy so was the price to appear on the right Laughter Stock, together with about forty of the best stand-up comedian.

At 12:30 o'clock it was my turn to appear before the audience the sea, which at that time consisted of perhaps 800 people. Later in the day, it became even more crowded on the grass and on benches and on the forest slope, and then standing audience figure is well over 2 000. So here it looked just before I went up on stage:

Three minutes, I had at my disposal. And I used quite exactly 2 minutes and 58 seconds. I ran basically the same material that I ran into Bungee Comedy-final . It was great to perform for such a large audience. But it was harder than I had expected to run outdoors. I thought I saw the audience that they had fun, but I did not hear the laughter very clearly. It was therefore not correct to surf along skrattvåg, so I had to deliver the witty banter in a row and do their best. In retrospect, I have looked at two different recordings of my gigs. On one sounds pretty okay with laughter and on the other only very weakly with laughter - all depending on where the cameras were located. When ståuppar indoors usually not differ so much laughter in volume between different parts of the premises. Interesting lesson. I think it was more comedian who had similar experiences during the day. But when some comedians - for example Özz Nujen and Al Pitcher - really got the whole audience could hear the laughter so dramatically.

For me, Laughter Stock a fantastic day. Not only thanks to the three minutes that I stood on the stage, but almost even more thanks to a total of ten hours that I was on the festival site. Small talk behind the scenes with comic pros, other organizers and my bungee Friends and other acquaintances. Having the opportunity to see a lot of talented comedians perform. Just to be part of an event like this. Many thanks to the organizers of Janne Westerlund and Jacob Öqvist the tip! And Klas Akerblom as bent on Bungee Comedy-hours in the program!

Bungee Comedy and Laughter Stock have been my two major milestones in my nascent comic career - it is just over six months since my debut. Now it's time for the next destination. And it will be October 19 (write it on your calendar). Where do I set up namely my first stand-up show. 45 minutes where I stand all by himself on stage at the Boulevard Theatre. Arranged by Mind Flyers / BokaStandup.se and the show is part of a cluster of shows as their own comics will provide. I do not know so much more at the moment, but I promise to come back with more details to come.

One thing I know though. This show will be one of my life's greatest challenges. And it feels wonderful!
