Three YouTube clips from my stand-up

by Mattias Boström May 9, 2011

My social media-mate Johan Lange has long pepper me to post the YouTube clip from my stand-up spirit. And I have in themselves wanted to do it, but been afraid to thereby burn good joke. What if people in the audience did not laugh just because they have already seen my standard joke on YouTube, dare I then really spend a lot of stuff there? The bulk of every gig I do is made up of jokes that I actually tend to run quite often. I only stand up for six months so I was not exactly a REMNANTS that I no longer use, otherwise it could of course be one thing to be put on the web.

Well, inspired by John run I started an experiment. I will continue to add up a lot of stand-up clips. And it will definitely be things that I have with my current repertoire. As experiments have seen, it will be very interesting to see what this does for my stand-up career. Will people who have seen my rock feel tempted to see me live, despite the risk that they may hear a lot of those jokes even then? Will it then to let them down? But if I at least look into running some new stuff every time I encountered so maybe it compensates. And there are jokes that only gets better when the audience has already seen them? And above all, the clips that make me as a comedian to make an impact far beyond Stockholm rookie clubs - and that in turn creates a greater demand for my sense of humor? I will be happy to shortcuts, if they exist.

Yes, the questions are many and I will not get answers to them if I do not test. If it goes straight to hell so I do not go in - I live not in this. Stand-up force is rather a stimulant for me. And if people requires me to drive other material on the stage than what is on YouTube, well then I just try to write more and more often. I have no major problems with that particular piece. Many of my standard jokes came to a few weeks in October / November last fall. So I can certainly put me down and in a short time produce new again.

And the more I upload to YouTube, the less each individual course that hurricane watch it all anyway. So it feels calm in any way. My strategy is clear in terms of attracting audiences: watching a few clips, are eager to see me live, if I run some of the jokes, but I also run a lot of other things that you are either not yet seen among the clips or things that I have not posted on my YouTube channel.

In addition to the above, I should add that my confirmation needs are met quite a lot to see YouTube viewing figures rise, slowly but surely. And that particular piece is not to be despised. I promise, statistics can be beautiful.

This is just a prelude to the real reason for this blog - to show my last three clips. Recorded at Le Comedy Club on Ricko in Jakobsberg Saturday 7 May 2011.

The first clip is a few jokes that I have used very extensively this spring and has served as a basis for my performances. This is about my years in middle school and these are the jokes that explains to the audience who I am as a person. When I later in the gig jokes about other things, it's always with these things as the background. The clip consists of a few oneliners to quickly get the audience going. Nearly all this material I used in bungee comedy-finals. Please look at the clip also to see how I act when it's 200 people in the audience. And are you specially interested in so you can compare with the same joke was when I stand-up debut in December 2010. The clip is for the time being concealed on YouTube, but you can still see it if you click here .

The next clip is interesting because it was completely new material, completed just hours before the gig. It is a typical example of that I would take off in childhood to joke about something. Substance as such showed up when I recently sat in dinner conversation with good friends, and I felt that it was no joke hidden in this, so I wrote up an initial starting point of my little skämtbok. Then I sat in the afternoon before the gig and just wrote down a bunch of tanks by hand and finally chose the three angles that was fun. Sometimes the angle first and then I look for a punch line. And sometimes I start with a punchline that I want and will then put together a set-up that suits it.

Now I had time to run this joke routine once again, Big Ben yesterday evening, and I have realized what needs to be adjusted. The middle part is removed, although there are two fine punch lines in the piece. But it is not as strong punch lines as in the first and last third and also feels like the middle part a bit more constructed.

The last clip is another thing that I ran into bungee comedy. Well, frankly, do I run it every time I perform now. So if you come and look at me you'll probably see it again. Recently, however, I started to vary it a bit from time to time, so it will certainly change over time. This is my absolute favorite of my own material.
