SM of puns - and a few words about my new YouTube love

by Mattias Boström March 29, 2011

Last week I attended the SM in puns. The resistance was extremely tough and I did not qualify on from the first round. But I was really pleased with my performance and it was amazingly fun to drive a two-minute show for the over 200 people in the audience. I had actually intended to run without a cheat sheet, but since the majority of the other participants still thought use of such, I thought it might be okay. Especially considering that I wrote a number of jokes on the same day and felt a bit unsure of the order of jokes. I wanted timed nicely with time constraints (when the pianist begins to play).

Then I started to write and perform stand-up material in December so I have basically programmed on my sense of humor brain. Before, it was just puns that dominated, but now building my humor very much unexpected twists and a bit more realism. On stage it often greater humorous effect than ordvits are. But sometimes it's nice to play a little extra with the words - and SM in puns proved to be a prime such occasion.

I took the opportunity to record myself:

Even Mike Räsänen on Komikaze.se recorded me - in a little more close-up:

The above two videos are the first I have posted publicly on YouTube. And while I put them up so I took the opportunity to make one of my stand-up clips in public. It had previously been hidden, and only spread through social media networks (it consists of specially crafted web nerd humor). I have so far been very hesitant to put up my usual stand-up performances on YouTube, because I still only have a total of about 15 minutes, materials, and it feels so sad about those who come and watch me have already seen it all online.

But now I've got just the beginning in terms of YouTube. I love my YouTube channel and plan to use it a lot of fun. Maybe not so much stand-up, but rather a different type of comedy clips. Please Subscribe to my channel so you do not miss my next comic venture.
